EXTENSION
DRILL
TRANSCRIPT
Fundamental football dad with Repstick here for your next set of drills. This one's going to be an extension drill and build on the basic drill that you learned.
So, you know your six basic positions. Now, we're going to build on that. What do we need to do? First thing we always got to do is get our mind right. you ready to practice? We're here to get better and to grow.
Next, we're going to make sure that we're set up for success with great footwork. Our feet are shoulderwidth apart. Our knees are bent. We're ready for some athletic movement because today we're going to do it. We're going to be moving laterally left and right. What does this look like?
Well, now I've got my six basic positions. Again, still overhead, still at my chest, but I'm going to be moving laterally. So, my over the shoulder now is going to include a crossover step where I'm stepping over and grabbing that ball. Again, at my hip, I'm stepping over and grabbing that ball. Other side. I'm stepping over and grabbing that ball. And then our last one is stepping over and grabbing that ball.
When we're doing this, the person that we're working with to facilitate this is going to extend where they're positioning that ball to allow us to practice these movements.
Now, let's show you what this looks like with the player.
So going up over that top shoulder, crossing over, going up over to the other shoulder with the crossover, going down at the hip to cross over, and extending out to the other hip to cross over. Then we still have the chest and we still have overhead.
We're going to rotate through all six of those positions. It may seem like this is getting a little bit more difficult, but keep in mind, we're not looking for 100% today. We're looking to get 1% better every single day. Consistency is undefeated, so stay after it.
